COVID-19: A Robot Made by CSIR for COVID-19 healthcare warriors: At the time of crisis of Covid-19, CSIR lab, Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute solely developed a robot targeting to assist the health workers who are continuously fighting with Corona. CSIR named this device as HCARD (Hospital Care Assistive Robotic Device). This device will help the health workers to keep distance from the infected persons.
HCARD is equipped with the state of the art technology like navigation, collecting sample from the patients, providing food and medicines, Virtual contact with the patients etc . It can work with the automatic and manual mode of navigation. HCARD can be controlled by nursing staff with a controlling station. Prof. (Dr.) Harish Hirani, Director, CSIR–CMERI stated that “This Hospital Care Assistive Robotic Device could be effective for frontline healthcare officials dealing with COVID-19 patients in delivering services while maintaining mandatory physical distancing”. HCARD will cost around Rs 5 Lac and it’s weight is around 80 kg.
Earlier WHO stated that PPE (Personal protection equipment) kits is very crucial to fight against the transmission of Corona Virus. Now with the help of this robot, use of PPE kits can be minimized because it lead to less contact with the corona infected person. Countries are developing PPE kits on the war front, however we are watching Doctors and other medical staff are getting infected day by day, to prevent this many countries are developing innovative technologies and we can say this is the start of BIO-TECHNOLOGY era. India is also in the same away ahead. Recent shri chitra trinul institute of medical science and technology developed an indigenous testing kit for Corona virus. See the details at the following link
Recently many cases came where Doctors and medical staff was getting infected from the virus. This is very serious problem and many organization like DRDO, Indian Railways, etc giving their best to fight against this pandemic. Railway has developed sanitizer tunnel, which will sanitize the person coming to the workplaces.
